RACIST experience

1
Aug 30, 2024
Let me first start by saying that the dishes at Quattro Passi were innovative, characteristic to the Sorrento region and most of all delicious. What I cannot support and must comment on was the RACIST experience I had while dining there. It’s important to note I am a black man who was there with his wife on what should’ve been an amazing experience. While at Quattro Passi, we observed Antonio Mellino, the prior chef and father of Fabrizio Mellino, the current chef, visit *every* table, many tables multiple times might I add, for the entire 2.5 hours that we were at the restaurant to ensure the patrons were enjoying their dining experience. Additionally, I made eye contact with Antonio who quickly darted eyes and again never approached our table. There was no other way to interpret the situation. Fabrizio visited our table as we were leaving which I can only surmise was because the attentive waiters recognized how disturbed my wife and I had become throughout the entire night. Please if you are a person of color or an ally of a more inclusive world, DO NOT visit Quattro Passi. It pains me to write this but to not say anything will only encourage Antonio Mellino to do this again.
