Here are the boats you can rent on the Amalfi Coast and pilot by yourself without a boating license. Travel independently between Capri, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast. All boats with an engine of 40cc or less can be driven without a boating license. We recommend renting a boat to pilot by yourself only if you already have some past experience at sea.

Can I visit the Blue Grotto with a private boat tour or rental on Capri?
Yes, you can cruise to the grotto entrance and moor there. A small rowboat will pick you up directly from your rental boat to take you inside the grotto. Tickets can be purchased directly at the grotto entrance.
The wait to visit the Blue Grotto is often very long, stretching into the hours. Try to get to the grotto first thing in the morning (it opens at 9) or late in the afternoon (closing time is 5).
